Elder Miklós Móritz, after making his master's examination in 1937, opened the Móritz Upholstering Workshop that has been waiting its customers since the foundation on the 1st January, 1938. In the last 70 years, our enterprise has changed according to the age to satisfy our clients' claims.
Between 1938 and 1945 twelve assistants worked in our workshop, on approximately 200 square metres. In those years, our main profile was producing sitting furniture. According to the then customs, we made the renovation of the furniture for the aristocracy on the site, for instance in the Eszterházy, Nádasdy and Endrődy Castles.
After 1945, the work continued long between handcrafted circumstances, with fewer workers and in a smaller workshop. In those days, we made furniture suitable for the fashion of the era. From the 1960s, our customers' range expanded, catering industry firms and hotels turned to us with confidence. We did not only made the upholstering work of sitting furnitures for them, but full inner drapery works, drapery and curtain making, even door upholstering.
From 1975 we have paid more attention to the restoration and renovation of antique sitting furniture. In case of these furnitures we always work with traditional and natural material for the era suitable.
Nowadays our main profile is the restoration and renovation of antique furniture, but we also undertake upholstering works connected to our profession. The workshop is run by the son of the the founder, junior Miklós Móritz, who took his examination in 1972 and became a 'master upholsterer'.
